At a solemn ceremony on June 3, the Society Integration Foundation launched a new initiative “Family-Friendly Workplace”, the aim of which is to honor the most family-friendly employers, as well as to promote the development of the work environment in Latvia. At a solemn ceremony on June 3, the Society Integration Foundation launched a new initiative “Family-Friendly Workplace”, the aim of which is to honor the most family-friendly employers, as well as to promote the development of the work environment in Latvia. At the opening ceremony, the status “Family-friendly workplace” was the first to be awarded to 50 employers, who have confirmed their concern for the well-being of their employees and facilitated the reconciliation of employees’ family and working life.
The goal of the “Family-Friendly Workplace” program is to promote the development of a family-friendly work environment in Latvia and to increase public awareness of what a family-friendly workplace means. The initiative expands the scope of the “Family-Friendly Enterprise” program already implemented in Latvia to include not only private companies, but also state and local government and non-governmental organizations.
The International College of Cosmetology has received its status and the right to use the “Family-Friendly Enterprise” logo in the category of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Employers who have obtained the status of a “Family-Friendly Workplace” have demonstrated an understanding of the need for a family and work-life balance by introducing various support measures that help employees, such as giving them more time with family, giving employees additional vacation days or providing additional education support.
The main criterion for granting the status is the employer’s orientation towards the effective reconciliation of work and family life, which was crucial during the Covid-19 pandemic, when work was mainly done from home.
